Heart Shaped Treat Boxes

First of all, Happy Galantine’s Day to all the women out there! This fun holiday was created when the main character, Leslie Knopp, celebrated it on the TV show Parks and Recreation. Galentine’s Day took off in popularity after it aired. The day is meant to be women celebrating women and I am all for that! I hope that everyone reached out to their girlfriends and let them know how much you value their friendship and maybe schedule a girl’s night out from it. I know I reached out and sent my friends some good vibes.

These treat boxes would be perfect as a gift to your girlfriends on Galentine’s Day or a sweet after dinner gift for your honey. Best of all? They are so fun, easy, and inexpensive to make!

Supplies:

  • Cardboard Heart Shaped Boxes
  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Red Sharpie
  • Valentine’s Tissue Paper
  • Glue (We used Elmer’s)
  • Disposable Cup

Directions:

Begin by painting the heart shaped boxes the desired color and let them dry entirely before continuing.

Candy Inspired Hearts: Write phrases on the box that could be found on the classes Sweetheart treats (If you want to learn more history on these treats, check out our Sweethearts Wreath post!).

ModPodge Hearts: Place a small amount of glue into a disposable cup and add a little water to make the mixture easier to work with. Cut the tissue paper into smaller, more manageable pieces (about 2 inches). Apply a small amount to the back of a tissue piece, place onto the heart box. Brush additional water/glue mixture onto the tissue paper piece, covering entirely. Continue to add layers of tissue paper pieces until desired look is achieved. Let dry entirely.

Fill with candy, tickets, or another small item – Give to a loved one!
