Review – Personalized Paint by Number

Let’s rewind to the Christmas season 2020. I had found the perfect gift for my mom, a custom paint by number of their adorable and goofy puppy. It was intricate and took her a few months to finish but the finished product was impressive! I wanted to do something similar for our dog after seeing how wonderful the finished product turned out.

Now we can fast forward to about 3 months ago when I found out the same site had a personalized pop art paint by number. Hello, PERFECT! I ordered it and below are my likes and dislikes.

I used Winnie’s Picks for my paint by number, here is the link to their site.

Spring Brunch Table Setting

I’ve been a little sporadic with my posts this May and it is definitely because life has been way busier than expected this month! Wedding planning and crafting for the big day has given me a lot of great material during this month in my spare time. The only issue is that I want to keep it all a surprise until the wedding day, so be prepared for an overload of posts come the end of this year!

In the meantime while we anxiously await some wedding material posts, I’m excited to share this fun May brunch table setting with you! This came together while wandering through Hobby Lobby (if you haven’t noticed already, I love to wander through craft stores and let them motivate me on what to do/create next). The inspiration is beachy colors and vibes. The calm blue colors of the table runner, wicker chargers, imperfect glass vase, and some wooden flowers/fake florals to finish it off led to the perfect setting for the upcoming brunch.

Find some of my tips for table arrangements below!

DIY Winter Pillowcases

One of the best things about Pinterest is that you are able to get your hand on how-to guides instantly. This was especially nice for me as my future in-laws gifted me a wonderful sewing machine for Christmas! I wanted to start the machine (and me) off with something simple, a set of pillowcases was the easy pick. I went to Pinterest for a how to and the below step by step video showed up. Exactly what I needed! She made the tutorial clear on the burrito method, which was a new way of making a pillowcase for me. Needless to say, my confidence in this sewing machine is now ready to take on more projects!

Popsicle Stick Pallet Coasters

I haven’t posted for a while but it’s been such a wonderful month in our house. Exactly a month ago today, I went from girlfriend to fiancée! That’s right, your girl is marrying her best friend and I CANNOT wait. With all of the fun events leading up to the wedding, you know there will be some DIY projects. Make sure to stay tuned and follow the blog to see all of the updates.

These pallet coasters were so fun to make and I might be a little biased but they are super cute. The best part about them is that you can change up what they say or have on them to fit you better. My mom went with a holiday stamp and I went with stamping some personalized phrases.

Date Night In – Cookies & Blanket Forts

My boyfriend and I like to go out for date nights quite often. When the COVID-19 restrictions went into place, we got creative with dates. Lounging at home is great and all, but after a while, it needs to be shaken up. Recently, the gym my boyfriend frequents reopened to appointments only. I wanted to do something special and with an hour of time I knew he would be gone, I got to work.

Do you remember blanket forts as a kid? I do! I remember trying to make them the size of the room and using every blanket, chair, and clip in the house to build the masterpiece. I remember crawling through carefully crafted “hallways” and “rooms” of the fort. I haven’t built a fort in YEARS. With the space of a house once again, a blanket fort was well due up. With my boyfriend gone for the gym, I got to work making the fort in front of our TV in the living room. I even planned the opening to be taller so we could cuddle inside with blankets and pillows while we watched TV. Once the fort was built and sturdy… enough. I grabbed some battery powered lights and carefully hung them above.

The finishing touch? Microwave popcorn and cookies! I used door dash to have a local cookie company, Crumbl Cookies, deliver right to my door.

My boyfriend was so surprised when he walked in the door, and it might be one of my favorite dates we have done! Just us and our pup cuddled up in the blanket fort = Perfect date night at home.

I’d love to hear from you! Comment below with your at home date night ideas!

Bedroom Suite Remodel

As promised, below are the before and (almost) after photos of our bedroom remodel! The only items we have left to do is add molding where the built in used to be, around the door frame with the barn doors, and find a comforter that fits the room! I didn’t mean for the color scheme to be so beachy but after picking the blue for the accent wall, the coastal theme fit perfectly with what we wanted! I am saving the bathroom because we have a few additional items past molding to finish up. Also, sorry for the mess in the photos! Once the true after photo is ready, I’ll share that on my Instagram. Make sure to follow me on my Instagram, @take2create, for even more content.

Remodel Time!

I’ve been MIA on the blog for a little bit but guys it’s because I have big news… we bought a house!! We closed on February 21st and until yesterday we were doing some remodel work. It’s been keeping us very busy and between the remodel and work, I slept in for the first time today! It was all worth it though because our master suite is completely redone and beautiful! I’ll show that before and after in the next post because today I wanted to show the quickest change we made to our house that made a HUGE difference to the overall look. On our closing day, we changed out all of the handles in our kitchen from a patterned nickel to an oil rubbed bronze. This looks changed the look immensely and is way more our style!

What metal finish do you have in your kitchen?
