Happy Birthday to our sweet doggo! This last weekend we celebrated our pups eighth birthday at our house with all of our families. Our tradition with her birthdays are to make a layered meat cake with mashed sweet potato frosting and some sort of a cupcake for the humans that come to the party. We always joke that she is more human than dog because she gets so excited when we have visitors and she will dive into the gift bag to see what she received! It is the cutest thing!
Check out how I made the cake below!

Ingredients:
- 2 sweet potatoes
- 1 lb. organic beef
- ½ cup organic frozen peas
- ¼ cup organic rolled oats
- ¼ cup shredded cheese
- 1 egg
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
Peel and chop the sweet potatoes, place into a medium saucepan. Cover with water and bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer until sweet potato is soft; about 20 minutes.

While the sweet potatoes are boiling, combine the remaining ingredients in a large bowl.
Divide into 3 patties and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for about 40 minutes or until meat is well done.
When the sweet potatoes are soft, transfer to an electric mixer with the whisk attachment and mix until smooth.
Allow both the meat and the sweet potato “frosting” to cool slightly before assembling.
On a plate, place one meat patty then spread a small layer of sweet potato puree. Repeat with the remaining two patties. Then spread the sweet potato puree on the sides and top of the cake similar to frosting a cake.
