It’s Christmastime and I am so excited to have a new project to show everyone. I started on this project in October and yes I was definitely listening to Christmas music through all the steps! This project got put after a few other ones on my list based on when they needed to be done, hopefully you have already checked out the stocking I made for my mom’s birthday or the start of the interchangeable O home sign (this one is ready and the only thing left is to take photos and share with all of you!)
It’s the first Christmas in our new house and I am so thrilled to decorate the outside with our own personal touches. I’ve done wooden cutouts before (Anyone remember the Thanksgiving Minions?) but this will be the newest and first addition to my fiancé and I’s collection. I might already have plans to add more of the memorable characters to the front yard in the coming years!
Which character would you like to see next? Comment below with your idea!

Supplies:
- 1 inch plywood
- Scroll Saw
- Miscellaneous Paints
- Medium Tip Paint Pen in black
- Satin Clear Coat Spray Paint
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Reference Photo (Pattern Download below)
Directions:
Begin by drawing the lines on the plywood using the ruler and pencil. Each full square is 3.33 in. x 3.33 in. to create a 3 foot tall character.
Using the reference photo, begin to draw the outline along with the details of the character one square at a time. I like to start with the top left and work from top to bottom.
Carefully cut the outline using a scroll saw. I used a jigsaw out of necessity but I wouldn’t recommend it for these projects, there was too much tearing of the wood.
Once cut, sand the outside to ensure the edges are smooth and to avoid splinters.
Have fun painting! Don’t worry if your lines are not perfect.
Using the paint pen, trace all of the details.
Spray with the clear coat to protect against the elements.
Set it up and make sure to add a spotlight to show off the hard work!
These characters are trademarked by Disney. I do not own the rights to these characters.
Very well written. Keep it up. I’ve followed you.😊 Please checkout my blog too. I hope you’ll have a good time reading my posts.
