Thanksgiving Minion Wood Cutouts

PSA: You do not need to be a super villain to make this craft

How wonderful would it be if Minions came to our Thanksgiving celebrations? I imagine some banana cream pie, banana ice cream, and really anything with banana would make them happy guests. They could cause trouble, but with those cute faces, I wouldn’t be mad for long. Since we can’t actually invite Minions, we decided to instead make life size wood cutouts of our favorite happy little characters. We saw these adorable pilgrim and turkey Minion pictures online (original source unknown) and started in on making them. We hope you have as much fun as we did creating them!Minion_Turkey_Pilgrim Continue reading “Thanksgiving Minion Wood Cutouts”

Thankful-ly Burnt in Wood

The thought of holding an extremely hot tool for a prolonged period of time in hopes of getting that perfect line is not for the faint of heart (and for perfectionists trying it for the first time, stressful). I recommend a couple of things: 1) Don’t take it too seriously, imperfections add character to your sign and only you will notice them, 2) Flip on some music, have tea ready and make it an enjoyable experience, and 3) Place the woodburner somewhere safe when not in use… it wouldn’t hurt to know where the fire extinguisher is either, haha! In all honesty, woodburning can be a fun craft for any skill level. Just do it safely, with love, and the results are incredibly rewarding. You Don’t Know “Jack”-O-Lantern Pumpkin Planters

*Spoiler Alert* We don’t usually make this many Halloween crafts but we are loving them this year! These festive Jack-O-Lantern concrete planters are easy to make and super fun! The idea came out of The Home Depot’s Garden Club page. While I’ve seen other variations on Pinterest, this was the one that seemed most appealing to try. You can fill them with anything from succulents to candles. Be prepared to get your (gloved) hands dirty and dive in.Concrete Pumpkin Planters Continue reading “You Don’t Know “Jack”-O-Lantern Pumpkin Planters”

Candy, Dracula, and Ghosts OH MY

With “Monster Mash”, “Thriller”, and all the classic Halloween party songs playing in the background, we settled into our way of unwinding from a busy week – crafting. Mason jars are such a fun Halloween craft that people of all ages and skill level can do (Plus, we filled ours with candy which makes it even more appealing. #halloweencandyobsessed)! Whether you want to make a candy corn or a whimsical character, painting mason jars allow your imagination to run wild. With endless ideas in mind we narrowed it down to the ones below.

Love you 2 “BOO”

October kicks off one of our favorite things in the family: the holiday season. First up in the string of upcoming holidays is Halloween. While we both pass on the scary side of Halloween, we still enjoy the more lighthearted or whimsical parts. When candy is involved, how could it not be a good day?! While wandering through the craft store aisles, looking for the first Halloween craft of 2018 we found three items next to each other that were perfect. A wood sign with jagged edges, pre-cut letters (timesaver!), and a glitter tree. Here’s our two takes on the three shared items.IMG_0368 Continue reading “Love you 2 “BOO””

FALL-ing in 2’s

Lately, we’ve had a slight obsession (okay, a huge obsession) with the pallet sign trend. So when we found two pallet’s on sale for half off at the local craft store, we were sold on the base for the next project. With our “Fall Fever” in full swing, the next decision to have FALL on the sign was easy. With the pallets in the cart, we selected the wood letters to add dimension, three fall acrylic paint colors and we were ready. Here are 2 takes on the same 3 items:
