Leprechaun Gnome Wood Cutout

If you have been following me for a while, you know that one of the ongoing projects is creating seasonal cutouts for my welcome sign. St. Patrick’s Day is quickly approaching and we didn’t have a cutout to celebrate with! I picked a leprechaun inspired gnome character (I made a gnome cutout for Christmas as well, so make sure you check that on out as well). Leprechaun’s are the most popular Irish fairy-goblin creature and have a rich folklore history. Although this character I created isn’t true to its Irish roots, I had fun making him and learning a little more about the history.

This St. Patrick’s Day you’ll find us sipping on a Guinness (wishing we could get some Irish Whiskey) and looking through photos of our trip to Ireland.

Valentine’s Day Brunch

Even though it is the last day of February, I had to make sure I shared our brunch this month because it turned out AMAZING! You’ll notice the item we focused on the most from Valentine’s Day is the iconic heart shape. We used it for the finger sandwiches, the strawberry pastries, and even attempted to give the sausages a heart shape! This felt like the most successful one since our Halloween themed brunch back in 2019; that one still taking the first place spot because of the decorations.

I have included a lot of great stuff for you below! There are links to the recipes for Strawberry Nutella Cream Cheese French Toast and the Strawberry Breakfast Pastries. Also included are the instructions for folding the heart shaped napkin, and how we made Raspberry Cupid’s, our boozy beverage!

Girls Night In – Tie Dye Sweatpants

Find yourself a best friend who is as excited as you to get coffee from Starbucks and spend the night making tie dye sweatpants! For real, how lucky am I to have her as my best friend and maid of honor?! Although the best base to apply color is white, I was concerned about how see through a pair of white sweatpants would be. Instead I opted for a pair of light grey jogger sweatpants. Meanwhile, my friend decided to do a second take of tie dye. She chose to reverse tie dye a pair of black sweatpants.

I haven’t done tie dye in forever so this was a fun craft for us to do and very on trend. Tie dye is making a comeback and I’m not mad about it. Check out our before photo and the link to the tie dye kit used for the purple and grey sweatpants!

6th Birthday Pawty

I cannot believe that our little pup is already 6 years old! We have a photo frame with her sweet face in our living room and on the frame it says “who rescued who”. It’s so true, 5 years ago I adopted her from a local shelter and I’m 100% sure she saved me too. After adopting her my life took a wonderful turn; I met and fell in love with my fiancé, I graduated from college, started my career, and I even got a new phone number all in the same year! This year for her birthday, we still made her a special cake to celebrate and had a small party with us and both our parents.

I’ve included the recipe for this meat cake below. Do you have any special traditions for your dog on their birthday? Comment below!

Loads of Love Valentines Sign

After taking down large amount of Christmas decorations in January, our plan was to put up Valentines to fill some of the empty space. The sad realization that we only have two decorations for the holiday quickly sat in. For a while now I’ve been wanting to use a pickup truck in a decoration. With this lack of Valentines décor in our house, I decided the two would make a perfect pairing. This loads of love sign was the result and it turned out exactly like I pictured!

I did make this with my Cricut machine. Let me know if you are interested in this being put as a digital download for purchase on Etsy! Make sure to follow me here on WordPress but also on Instagram and now YouTube with our same name, Take2Create.

I was torn about whether to do red hearts and lettering or the black glitter hearts and lettering. Read more to see how they looked side by side in my design space before I decided!

Valentines Countdown Love Notes

Since my fiancé and I have been together on Valentine’s Day, I have done a countdown of love notes for him every day leading up to the fourteenth starting on February first. I can’t believe that this will be my fifth year of doing this for him! Normally I would take red paper, cut out hearts, and write little things that I love about him with sharpie on each one. This year I decided to change it up by buying these adorable mini valentines cards by Hallmark off Amazon. They are about 2.5 inches by 3 inches. Perfect for a little love note for your special someone. I used these to write what I love about my fiancé, but these could be used with kids too!

Do you have any sweet Valentines traditions with your significant other?

DIY Winter Pillowcases

One of the best things about Pinterest is that you are able to get your hand on how-to guides instantly. This was especially nice for me as my future in-laws gifted me a wonderful sewing machine for Christmas! I wanted to start the machine (and me) off with something simple, a set of pillowcases was the easy pick. I went to Pinterest for a how to and the below step by step video showed up. Exactly what I needed! She made the tutorial clear on the burrito method, which was a new way of making a pillowcase for me. Needless to say, my confidence in this sewing machine is now ready to take on more projects!

Disney Themed Interchangeable HOME Sign

A few weeks back I shared that I was commissioned to do two of these interchangeable home signs for one of my friends. Drumroll please…. It’s finished! It was completed a few weeks before Christmas but with the 12 Days of Cookies, I didn’t have time to get this one up. I am so excited to share how it turned out with all of you! Check out the video below and make sure to subscribe to see more fun crafts.

Let me know your favorite! I am between the gingerbread Mickey or the Jack-O-Lantern Mickey.

Gnome Place Like Home for the Holidays

Merry Christmas Everyone! I wish you all a very happy and healthy holiday. There is no place like home for the holidays like the song puts so well, so I’ve added a new cutout to our HOME sign to celebrate. This Christmas gnome has been greeting us for a few weeks now when we enter our home, and I felt he was the perfect way to send our season’s greetings to all of you.
