Christmas Woodland Wreath

Anyone else spend a long time in their local craft stores floral department when prepping for a new wreath? It is one of my favorite things to do when creating a new wreath. Plus it allows me to test a few different concepts before I make a purchase. We have all been there when an idea doesn’t come together like you think, right? Haha. I’ll lay the wreath form in the cart and continue to add or subtract items until the desired look is achieved. The finished wreath is below but click “read more” to see my layout inside of JoAnn’s. This cute woodland Christmas wreath might be one of my favorites! Comment below what your favorite Christmas wreath theme is? I’ve listed some below to get you thinking!

DIY Turkey Wreath

Tommy turkey came to our house in a fun new way this year. With a newly bare door after Halloween ended, I was itching for a Thanksgiving wreath. Yes, even though I am OBSESSED with Christmas, I also enjoy Thanksgiving and the beautiful decorations that can go along with it (I did have Christmas music playing while we made the wreaths though haha). This fun little wreath was made by both my mom and I. We used a new technique than before for the turkey’s feathers. I’m excited to share the step by step for how to make this little DIY wreath.

Update November 2022: We are happy to announce that our Etsy page now has the wooden cutout turkey for sale! You can order it painted or unpainted. Please note it is the wood cutout only – It will NOT include the completed wreath at this time. Click here to check it out!

Colorful Wreath

I got my first request for a custom made wreath and I am thrilled with how it turned out! The requestor (and a really good friend of mine) gave me a photo as inspiration and I used it to create the wreath pictured below. My friend has such an upbeat and outgoing personality that this fun and colorful wreath is perfect for her! This also stretched me to work with a different wreath form and medium on top of the wreath.

DIY Summer Wreaths

Summer colors are so exciting to work with when crafting. Between the brilliant greens and the bright shades, it’s almost hard to pick what direction of a color scheme to go with! We went with two different takes of this summer wreath. One focused on the greens while the other embraced the vibrant colors of the season.  We went a little crazy with the florals/greens for these wreaths and love how they turned out.

Sweethearts Wreath

Walking down the aisles of a store from January to mid-February is a bombardment of Valentines gifts, colors, and candies. Tucked away in the aisle is also a piece of nostalgia… Sweethearts. The chalky hard candies with phrases from “Call Me” to “Be Mine” (or the newer additions like “Text Me”) bring back sweet childhood memories.

The candies have evolved quite a bit from the original form. The Smithsonian describes that the candy maker Necco created a version of the current treat when the company started in 1847. It started out as a scalloped shell with a paper fortune in the middle. The red writing was added 14 years later in 1861 by the founder’s brother who invented a machine that could press red vegetable dye into the candy. The shape went through many different forms before settling into its heart shaped delight in the early 1900’s. Even though they have made adjustments to the phrases and flavors, Sweethearts still hold a sentimental place in my Valentines memories.sweethearts_wreath Continue reading “Sweethearts Wreath”
