Taco Salad – Tortilla Bowls

A go to meal for my busy week uses taco meat. I’m able to use it for a couple of days as tacos, burritos, or taco salads. My personal favorite is the taco salad! I still like a tortilla with my salad, so how perfect is it when the bowl is edible! It’s really quick and easy, and warning… super delicious! Read more below to find out how to make these tortilla bowls.

DIY Pumpkin Candy Container

I can’t believe that it is almost to the end of summer! I’ve enjoyed my summer, but with the opportunity to make multiple crafts one night, we decided to throw a fall craft into the mix. We already have a few more projects lined up in the next month but this might be the easiest.

It did get us thinking about what candy to fill it with when it is time to put it out as a decoration. We went a little nostalgic too. Anyone remember the Mary Jane candies? It’s a peanut butter molasses taffy like candy that we would get when I was little around Halloween. I’m not sure if they still make them but I will definitely be checking in about a month from now. What candy would you fill these fall pumpkin candy containers with?

My tips are below on how I manage my stress during work hours!

Brunch Time – Family Time

Since my boyfriend and I moved in together, we have made a tradition with his family where we rotate brunch once a month at the three houses. This month was our turn and I went a little crazy with food (Hello it involves breakfast food so you knew I would haha). So much so that a majority of my Saturday was spent preparing for Sunday’s brunch. Check out what we made below and comment which treat you would like the recipe for!

Christmas Cookies in July

It’s Christmas in July at our house and what better way to celebrate than to bake a seasonal mash up cookie. We are combining our tradition around Christmastime (12 Days of Cookies) and a favorite summer flavor – root beer floats. This worked out perfectly! We had made a root beer float cookie back in December of 2013 so a throwback to that Christmas season was fitting. So grab an iced coffee, and if you’re like us at embracing this whole Christmas in July celebration, some Christmas music, and let’s get baking!

Pie and Beer Day Celebration

If you grew up in Utah or visited around July 24th and asked around about why firework stands were still up late after the 4th of July; you probably already know what day I am talking about… Pioneer Day. A celebration of when the pioneers travelled west and settled in Utah. A more recent addition to the day is a play on the word “Pioneer” to “Pie and Beer”. I’m not sure who started it but do we really need to ask too many prying questions if it involves eating pie? With an apple pie cooking in the oven (I’m drooling here because it smells delicious), cold beer waiting, and a firework show later tonight; I’m wishing you all a Happy Pie and Beer Day!

Waffle Love

“We have to remember what’s important in life: friends, waffles, and work. Or waffles, friends, work. But work has to come third.” – Leslie Knope from the show Parks and Recreation. This is really about the truest quote that I have seen recently. Work is important, yes but friends and well… food are the true zest of life. My friends and family are my backbone and support me in every decision (good or bad) that I have made. The perfect combination is a brunch or a breakfast with those people I care so much about. Today, I made my boyfriend some waffles and thought of this quote. I hope you all enjoy work but remember what should come first: Friends and Waffles!

Adjustable Entryway Sign

Home sweet home! Is there anything better than walking through those doors and being HOME at the end of a workday? Home has so many seasons of décor. In summer it can have everything from Independence Day to pineapples and popsicles. In winter its snowflakes and Christmas. What better way to accommodate all of those seasons and holidays than to create an interchangeable sign. Plus, I have been looking forward to a reason to use a scroll saw and this is a perfect opportunity for the unique shaped O in home or welcome!

Christmas Stocking Holder in July

My love of Christmas absolutely embraces the phrase “Christmas in July”. With a new apartment a whole new opportunity for Christmas crafts opened up and I could not wait to make the first decoration any longer. I made a custom stocking for my boyfriend this last Christmas, so it was fitting that the first decoration would be a stocking hanger. I am already excited to hang this up in our cute little home this holiday season. Even though it’s a little weird to be wearing shorts while working on a Christmas craft, I loved every minute and I’m sure that this won’t be my last one this July.

Seasoned with LOVE

This last weekend we really embraced the Cricut machine and this is one of three projects that we made with it. You read that right, we have two more coming your way shortly! This cute little aluminum container was a find at Michaels (Hello 70% off? Yes Please!), and a red removable vinyl Cricut sheet. This has been a thought for a few months now but we couldn’t find the perfect sized metal basket until now. We filled it with oils, balsamic vinegars, salt, and pepper – this kitchen is seasoned with LOVE.
