October kicks off one of our favorite things in the family: the holiday season. First up in the string of upcoming holidays is Halloween. While we both pass on the scary side of Halloween, we still enjoy the more lighthearted or whimsical parts. When candy is involved, how could it not be a good day?! While wandering through the craft store aisles, looking for the first Halloween craft of 2018 we found three items next to each other that were perfect. A wood sign with jagged edges, pre-cut letters (timesaver!), and a glitter tree. Here’s our two takes on the three shared items.

Fluffy Pumpkin Bars with Spiced Frosting
Fall has such a distinct mood to me; it’s warm, cozy and all about pumpkin! This pumpkin bar recipe has been in our family since my grandpa created it years ago. Everyone in my family has different memories associated with these bars. My dad remembers waking up to the sweet spiced smell when he was young; my mom recalls how these were always at the annual Halloween party. Food brings family together, and the best food memories are the ones shared with family and friends. Warning: having one might make you want to finish the whole pan (this can be solved by sharing and finishing the whole pan together)!
FALL-ing in 2’s
Lately, we’ve had a slight obsession (okay, a huge obsession) with the pallet sign trend. So when we found two pallet’s on sale for half off at the local craft store, we were sold on the base for the next project. With our “Fall Fever” in full swing, the next decision to have FALL on the sign was easy. With the pallets in the cart, we selected the wood letters to add dimension, three fall acrylic paint colors and we were ready. Here are 2 takes on the same 3 items:

Whatever you do, do it with love
Whether it’s making a delicious dish in the kitchen or a crafting project, creating has always been a wonderful connection that my mom and I have shared. There is something about the bond when creating together. This blog is meant to have both our unique viewpoints and what we come up with when we work as a team.
One of the first projects I remember crafting was a jack-o-lantern out of paper. A project I think we all made when we were young. Taking a piece of orange paper, folding it “Hot Dog” style, cutting lines in it, and gluing the ends together to become a lantern. It was imperfect, the scissor lines weren’t straight and the glue surely oozed out of the sides, but when I showed it to my mom; I beamed with pride. It is a uniquely wonderful feeling when you create something. Excitement? Relief? Love? All of the above.
Together we have tried just about every type of craft and cooked or baked thousands of recipes. Some were successes and others were definitely considered “Pinterest Fails”. Through all of them though, our approach has always been the same. If you create it with love, it will all work out.
So pull up a chair, a strong cup of coffee (or your drink of choice), and a whole lot of love. We’re going to have some fun!
Whatever you do, do it with love!
